MEET THE good story Makers
Good Story was founded by Matt Nienow and has included a few other crafty folks over since its start. Currently, these collaborations are mostly informal, but the team will be growing soon.
Matt was born in Los Angeles, but spent most of his formative years in the Seattle area, most often shirking school obligations to play guitar and skateboard. He is a published poet whose work has been recognized with Fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation. His first book is House of Water (Alice James Books, 2016). After going to grad school at the University of Washington for Poetry, he headed straight to the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding, which gave him the skills necessary to dive headlong into the lifelong pursuit of making beautiful floating objects.
Matt began Good Story as a side project in the summer of 2013 and made the company official in 2015. He is the man behind all of the designs and the larger vision that propels the company forward. He is a PSUPA certified instructor and is on the water as much as possible.
He lives on a wild five-acre homestead with his wife, Elie, their two sons, River and Paikea, and a herd of dogs, cats and chickens.
